On Tuesday night, President Obama delivered his third State of the Union Address. Shortly afterward, Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) delivered the Republican response. Neither speech featured the one word that affects so many of those watching from homes that soon may no longer be theirs… foreclosure.
As the mortgage/foreclosure crisis continues on, it’s disappointing that an issue, which impacts so many, remains on the back burner. It’s hard for me to understand how either party can discuss fixing the economy, without addressing the foreclosure issue.
I don’t typically comment here about other blogs, but I thought Joshua Holland should be commended for being one of the first people to write about the foreclosure omission.
Simply put, we’re not going to fix the economy, until we fix housing. It’s not a problem that’s going away and it can’t continue to be swept under the rug. Until both parties get serious about legitimate ways to keep people in their homes or get them out without bankrupting them and destroying their credit, poor economic conditions will be the underlying theme of many more SOTU addresses to come…
